Fire Prevention

Fire Prevention Bureau

The Youngsville Fire Department's Fire Prevention Bureau is dedicated to reducing the risk of fire and enhancing public safety through education, community outreach, inspections, and prevention programs. By working closely with residents, businesses, schools, and community organizations, the bureau plays a vital role in protecting lives and property throughout the City of Youngsville.

Public education is a cornerstone of the bureau's mission. Each October, during Fire Prevention Month, members of the Fire Department and the Fire Inspector visit local schools to educate students on fire safety practices, emergency preparedness, and the importance of smoke alarms. These programs help instill lifelong safety habits and promote awareness among young members of our community.

To further support community safety, the bureau hosts quarterly Residential Fire Safety Classes at Station 1. These classes are open to the public and provide valuable information on fire prevention, home escape planning, smoke alarm maintenance, other life-saving safety topics, and cooking safety tip.

The Fire Prevention Bureau is also responsible for conducting building inspections and developing annual pre-fire plans for commercial and high-hazard occupancies. These pre-fire plans provide firefighters with critical information about building layouts, hazards, access points, fire protection systems, and emergency contacts, helping crews respond more safely and effectively during emergencies.

In addition, the bureau maintains contact information for local businesses and property owners to assist with emergency response and incident management. The Fire Inspector works closely with business owners to promote fire safety compliance and ensure properties remain as safe as possible for occupants and first responders.

The bureau also coordinates Operation Save-A-Life in partnership with the Louisiana State Fire Marshal's Office. Through this program, qualifying residents may receive smoke alarms and fire safety education to help reduce fire-related injuries and fatalities within the community.

Through education, prevention, inspection, and community partnerships, the Youngsville Fire Department's Fire Prevention Bureau remains committed to creating a safer community for everyone who lives, works, and visits Youngsville.
